TVS has recently unveiled its latest offering, the X electric scooter, in the Indian market. Despite the anticipation created by multiple teasers, the X comes with a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh, making it the most expensive electric scooter available in the Indian market today.
Impressive Performance and Range
Powering the TVS X is a 4.4kWh battery, which boasts an impressive IDC range of 140km. This battery is seamlessly integrated into a twin-spar frame, providing the scooter with a robust foundation. The suspension setup includes a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, ensuring a comfortable and smooth ride.
Charging Convenience
Charging options for the X are versatile. The Smart X Home rapid charger can replenish the battery from 0 to 50 percent within just 50 minutes (an optional 3kW fast charger is also available). Additionally, a 950W portable charger offers a convenient way to charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. The portable charger is priced at Rs 16,275, including GST.
Powerful Performance and Advanced Safety
The heart of the TVS X is its Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), delivering a peak power of 11kW (with a continuous power of 7kW) and a peak torque of 40Nm. The scooter’s braking system consists of a 220mm disc at the front and a 195mm disc at the rear. Notably, the TVS X boasts a unique feature – a single-channel ABS system, setting it apart as the first electric scooter to feature this advanced safety enhancement.
Innovative Features and Modes
Equipped with a 10.25-inch TFT display, the TVS X offers a customizable viewing experience for riders. Bluetooth connectivity allows for music playback and navigation alerts. The X also introduces the PlayTech entertainment system, enabling riders to watch videos or play games when stationary. Additional features include reverse assist, cruise control, and a hill-hold function.
Bold Design and Functional Features
The design of the TVS X is distinct and bold, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Creon concept showcased at Auto Expo 2018. A notable departure from traditional design, the X forgoes the floorboard in favor of a spine-integrated frame. The scooter features a split-seat arrangement, a rarity in the scooter segment. The underseat storage capacity is a generous 19 liters.
Exclusivity and Bookings
Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh, the TVS X assumes the position of the most premium electric scooter available in the Indian market. Notably, the X does not benefit from the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings for the TVS X are now open, with deliveries set to commence in November 2023. The initial 2,000 customers of the TVS X will enjoy an exclusive offering – a complimentary Smartwatch and a ‘Curated Concierge’ package valued at Rs 18,000.
