Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the updated versions of Nexon and Nexon EV on September 14. While the specifics of these SUVs are still undisclosed, recent comprehensive reports have shed light on the revamped internal combustion engine (ICE) Nexon’s exterior, interior, powertrain options, and new variant naming.

Redefined Exterior and Interior of Tata Nexon Facelift

The forthcoming Nexon facelift is undergoing significant changes to its exterior, drawing inspiration from the Curvv and Harrier EV concepts. Marking the second major facelift for Nexon, notable updates include a fresh split-headlamp arrangement, a full-width LED tail-light, redesigned alloy wheels, elimination of the previous Y-shaped design motifs, and various other enhancements.

Inside the cabin, the Nexon facelift showcases a redesigned dashboard with sleeker AC vents, touch-based HVAC controls, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a new two-spoke steering wheel. While several updates are introduced, Tata Motors retains the rotary drive mode selector and the manual handbrake.

Although details about the design of Nexon EV are limited, similarities with the ICE model are expected.

Enhanced Powertrain and Variant Range for Tata Nexon Facelift

Beneath the hood, Nexon will maintain its 1.2-liter turbo-petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines. Petrol options encompass a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed AMT. On the other hand, the diesel engine will be paired with 6-speed gearboxes.

Tata Motors is overhauling the existing nomenclature, which previously featured ‘X’ designations (XE, XM, XM+, XZ+, XZ+ Lux), in favor of adopting the Punch naming system. This transition will introduce 11 trims: Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S), and Fearless+ (S).

Expected Pricing and Competition for Tata Nexon and Nexon EV Facelifts

The Nexon facelift is poised to compete against strong contenders including Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. In the electric segment, the Nexon EV facelift will continue its rivalry with the Mahindra XUV400.

As the launch date nears, anticipation is building for these updated versions of the popular Nexon SUV lineup. Stay tuned for more insights and details.
