T20 World Cup 2022: According to a BCCI media statement on Friday, Mohammed Shami will take Jasprit Bumrah’s place for the forthcoming T20 World Cup being played in Australia.
Before India’s warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand, the fast bowler will arrive in Australia and join the rest of the team. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, who have been designated as backups, will be departing for Australia shortly.
Shami Record So Far
At 17 games, Shami, who made his Twenty20 International debut against Pakistan in Mirpur in March 2014, has taken 18 wickets at a rate of over 31. His 3-for-15 total in a T20I match against Scotland in 2021 was his finest performance. Additionally, he has taken 99 wickets in the IPL, averaging a little over 29 per game. Additionally, he finished second among Indian wicket-takers in the 2015 50-over World Cup, which was played in Australia (17 wickets at 17.29).
In the T20 World Cup last year, Shami last competed for India in the shortest format against Namibia. His recovery from Covid-19, which prevented him from playing in the home series against Australia and South Africa, took place recently.
Bumrah Out From T20 World Cup 2022
Following a thorough evaluation and consultation with the experts, Bumrah was determined to be injured and unable to compete in the T20 World Cup in Australia. The fast bowler made a comeback prior to the T20Is against Australia after missing more than two months due to back issues that developed at the conclusion of the England tour in July.
