PCOS & PCOD: It’s Important to Know The Difference Between These Two

Nowadays, we come across many cases of women suffering from PCOD and PCOS. There could be many reasons for the same. Both of them lead to hormonal imbalances. However, many of us need to understand that PCOD and PCOS are not completely the same. Read the entire article to know the difference.

What is PCOS?

Firstly, we need to know that PCOS is way more severe than PCOD. In the condition of PCOS(Polycystic ovarian syndrome), ovaries basically produce a greater quantity of male hormone and this leads to the formation of some, certainly, the higher amount of cysts in the ovary in a month. Ultimately, the release of the egg is kept at a halt. Infertility, hair loss are some of the symptoms. PCOS is a serious condition to come across. 

What is PCOD? 

In comparison to PCOS, PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) is still a less critical condition. Normally, both the ovaries in a woman release an egg alternatively every month. However, in this condition, the ovaries contain many immature eggs which may turn into cysts with time. Increased belly fat, irregular periods, infertility are the symptoms. The ovaries usually become large under this condition.

PCOD & PCOS: Learn the difference 

Women with PCOD can still conceive under proper supervision and maintenance. However, it is difficult for women with PCOS to conceive. In fact, the women suffering from the latter experience more amount of miscarriages as well.  

Nevertheless, PCOD can be treated to some extent with day-to-day lifestyle changes. The patient can keep a check on her regular junk intake, do regular exercises and undertake lesser stress. This can help with PCOD. On the other hand, PCOS is still an intense condition. The cure to this condition still stays unfamiliar. However, of course, you can make an effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is always a win, but, the exact measures are not yet known clearly. 

PCOD is an ordinary problem among females. At least, 7 out of 10 women suffer from this problem whereas the number of women suffering from PCOS is not really huge. 

PCOD leads to some hormonal imbalance and extreme weight gain. However, women suffering from PCOS tend to be at a higher risk of developing any heart-related disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. The condition is somehow insensitive. 

Well, in any case, if you find yourself with an increase in acne on the face, excessive hair loss, unnecessary weight gain, irregular periods, etc. do not overlook and get yourself checked. It will be way better to treat this problem at an early age. At least, there will be chances that it gets better with time.

So, just make sure you plan a healthy lifestyle for yourself. Even if you are not suffering from the same, eat healthily, avoid junk food, exercise regularly. This will cut down your chances of getting such a disease. Try to live a stress-free life and make sure you stay positive throughout.
