ICC fined Team India, Virat Kohli Admitted Mistake

The Indian team was fined 40 per cent of the match fees for bowling at a slow over-rate in the fourth T20 International against New Zealand. ICC Match Referee Chris Broad imposed the penalty on Virat Kohli’s team on Friday after being two overs behind schedule.

The ICC said in its statement, “The Indian team has violated Section 2.22 of the code of conduct for players and support staff, which relates to bowling at a slow over in an international match. There is a provision for imposing a penalty of 20 per cent of the match fees on the players for each over.

Third umpire Ashley Mehrotra, along with on-field umpires Chris Brown and Sean Haig, accused the team. Captain Kohli accepted the fine so that there was no need for a formal hearing in the matter. India won this match in a super over and took a 4–0 lead in the series.
