Abarth, the performance-oriented arm of Fiat, is preparing to launch a high-performance variant of Fiat’s new 600 EV, named the Abarth 600e. Following the footsteps of the successful 500e hatchback, the Abarth 600e aims to provide an electrifying driving experience. In this article, we delve into the expected power, performance, and distinguishing features of the upcoming Abarth 600e.

Enhanced Power and Performance

The Abarth 600e is projected to make its global debut by early 2025, and it’s anticipated to offer a significant power boost compared to the standard model. Drawing inspiration from the power increase in the 500e, which saw its power rise to 154hp, the 600e could wield around 192hp. This enhanced power output is expected to result in a dynamic driving experience.

Driving Dynamics and Range

Despite being a crossover, the Abarth 600e is likely to incorporate the Scorpion Track driving mode, similar to its smaller sibling, the 500e. This driving mode, when engaged, could propel the 600e from 0 to 100 km/h in around 7.0 seconds, matching the agility of the lighter 500e. The 600e is expected to share the same 54kWh battery as the regular 600 EV, providing a real-world range of approximately 320km due to its increased power demand.

Platform and Sporty Features

Built on the Jeep Avenger 4×4 EV platform showcased at the Paris Motor Show, the Abarth 600e takes advantage of the e-CMP platform’s adaptability for a four-wheel-drive setup. The Abarth 600e will sport distinctive sporty elements, including bucket seats, an Alcantara-clad steering wheel, unique paint choices, and bespoke wheel designs. In a nod to its petrol-powered heritage, the 600e might feature a speaker that produces a synthetic engine sound to enhance its appeal to enthusiasts.

Fiat’s India Plans

Fiat ceased operations in India in 2019 due to various factors. However, there are indications that the parent company, Stellantis, might reintroduce the Fiat brand in India. This decision could be driven by leveraging the upcoming modular STLA M platform for models from Jeep, Citroen, and Fiat, potentially marking Fiat’s return to the Indian market.

The Abarth 600e’s arrival signifies Fiat’s commitment to delivering electrifying performance while embracing the advantages of electric mobility. With its enhanced power, sporty attributes, and potential to appeal to driving enthusiasts, the Abarth 600e is poised to carve a niche in the realm of electric performance vehicles.
