Symptoms of High Blood Pressure

Causes of High Blood Pressure or Hypertension

Well, the Hypertension is of two types i.e. Primary hypertension and Secondary Hypertension. Both are different, and causes of these are also different.

Primary Hypertension: This is also known as Essential Hypertension. In this kind of Hypertension, it is developed over time. In most cases, primary Hypertension is found. The factors causing primary Hypertension includes the genes, Physical changes and Environment.

Secondary Hypertension: This type of Hypertension can be more severe as compared to primary Hypertension. The factors causing this type of Hypertension includes the Kidney diseases, congenital heart defects, problems with thyroid, side effects of the medications, use of illegal drugs, alcohol abuse, adrenal gland problems and certain endocrine tumours etc.

What is the Normal Blood Pressure

In simple words, normal blood pressure is 120/80. Here in this term, it is read as 120 over 80. The 120 is systolic, and the bottom number is diastolic. If the systolic number increases by 120, then it is termed as high blood pressure.

120/80 – It is normal blood pressure
120-129/80 – It is called as elevated blood pressure
130-139/80-89 – It is Stage 1 of the high blood pressure
140 or above/90 – It is stage 2 of the high blood pressure or Hypertension
180 or higher/120 or higher – Hypertension crises and you need to consult a doctor right away.

High Blood Pressure Dangers to Our Body

High Blood Pressure can damage the whole body before the symptoms develop in the body. Half of the people who left with the untreated Hypertension die of heart disease or stroke. High blood pressure of High BP can result in damage the arteries, damage to the heart, damage to kidneys, damage to the brain, damage to eyes, sexual dysfunction etc.
