Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) is also known as Chronic Kidney Failure. It means the gradual loss of the function of the kidney. Kidneys are one of the essential organs of our body. It helps in the filtering of the wastes and excess fluids from the blood. These wastes are excreted in the urine. When the CKD reaches an advanced level, the levels of the excess fluids, wastes and electrolytes start building up in the body.
In the first stages of CKD, one may experience few symptoms or signs of the diseases. But the Chronic Kidney Diseases may not become visible until the kidney function is significantly diminished. It is not wrong to say that Chronic Kidney Disease means the lasting damage to the kidney that can even become worse over time. Causes of CKD

– Interstitial nephritis
– Prolonged obstruction of the urinary tract

– Vesicoureteral reflux (It is a condition that causes urine to back up into the kidneys)
Risk Factors of CKD
There are some factors that can increase the risk of CKD. These factors are:
– High blood pressure
– Heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) disease
– Being African-American, Native American or Asian-American
– Family history of kidney disease
– Abnormal kidney structure
– Older age
Prevention of CKD
It is truly said that Prevention is Better than Cure. And it is true in the case of the CKD. One can reduce the risk of developing CKD disease.
– Avoid the over-usage of the non-prescription painkillers. Taking too much of painkillers can lead to damage to the kidney. If you have kidney disease, then you must totally avoid the use of pain relievers.
– A healthy weight can also reduce the risk of CKD. So if you have a healthy weight try to maintain it, if you are overweight, try to lose extra kilos. You can consult the doctor or the physician for healthy weight loss tips and strategies.
– Quitting Smoking can also decrease the risk of CKD. Cigarette smoking can damage the kidneys.
Stages of CKD
There are five different stages of CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). These stages go from mild to complete kidney failure. The mild CKD is the first stage, while Kidney Failure is the last stage. These stages of CKD are on the basis on how well the kidneys are doing their job (to filter waste the extra fluid from the blood).
