The Aston Martin DB12 is scheduled to make its official debut in India on September 29, 2023, a mere four months after its global unveiling. The much-anticipated introduction will take place at the British High Commission in New Delhi, with deliveries projected to commence later in the final months of 2023.
Design and Features of Aston Martin DB12
Succeeding the DB11, the Aston Martin DB12 maintains the lineage while presenting notable differences in design. The front grille has been significantly enlarged, the nose adopts a more aggressive stance, and the newly designed swept-back headlamps feature the brand’s distinctive LED DRL signature. The car’s profile showcases more assertive lines, including a prominent air vent emerging from the front wheel arch. With widened front and rear tracks (6mm and 22mm respectively), the car’s stance is further enhanced.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the Aston Martin DB12 employs an upgraded version of its predecessor’s chassis and mechanical components. This includes the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, now tuned to deliver 680hp and 800Nm of torque. Notably, the V12 engine option has been discontinued, resulting in a weight reduction of 100kg, which contributes to even greater real-world performance. Power is directed to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a new electronic rear differential. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 325kph.
Termed a ‘super tourer’ by Aston Martin, the DB12 boasts improved performance and handling characteristics. The chassis is 7 percent stiffer, complemented by enhanced adaptive dampers and a new ESC system, all contributing to a wider range of capabilities encompassing both performance and comfort aspects.
Interior and Infotainment
The Aston Martin DB12 introduces a completely redesigned interior, addressing previous criticisms of its predecessor. High-quality materials are employed throughout the cabin, and customers have access to an extensive array of customization options through the brand’s Q catalogue. The two-door Grand Tourer maintains its rear seats.
Notably, the car features a new proprietary electronic architecture and infotainment system, a departure from the older Mercedes system used in the DB11. This system comprises a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The latter integrates features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, onboard 4G connectivity, and over-the-air updates.
Aston Martin DB12 Price and Bookings India
The Aston Martin DB12 is priced from Rs 4.80 crore (ex-showroom, India), excluding optional features. Given Aston Martin’s Q customization program, the final price can significantly increase as customers personalize their coupes. Bookings for the luxury sports coupe in India opened in June this year, shortly following its global unveiling.
