On October 17, 2022, ladies participating in the Ahoi Ashtami fast will have to get up early, take a shower, and then swear to keep their children on a strict fast without food or water.

Prior to sunset, the Ahoi Ashtami puja and promise ceremonies are performed. Then, women either keep a photograph of Goddess Ahoi or draw her on the wall. Since the event is connected to Ashtami Tithi, one must be careful to create or choose an image with Ashtha Koshthak or eight corners.

Many women actually keep the image of the goddess Ahoi next to the image of Sei, a spiny mammal from the Ahoi Ashtami mythology. Sprinkle holy water at the place of devotion after that, and then summon Alpana. Keep a water-filled Kalash at the place of devotion and cover the pot’s mouth with an earthen lid after spreading wheat on the ground or a wooden stool.

After that, roli, milk, and akshat are used to complete the puja. The women who are fasting read the Ahoi Ashtami route before they can break their fast after the stars are visible. They ask Goddess Parvati to provide their children success, prosperity, and good health.
