5 Difference Between Green Tea and Herbal Tea

Herbal Tea and Green Tea are different from each other. We know that green tea is a form of herbal tea. But actually, herbal Tea is very different from authentic Tea. Herbal Tea comprises several dried herbs, flowers, spices, or fruits, but green tea is made up of only tea leaves. Moreover, green tea contains a tinch of caffeine, while herbal tea does not contain caffeine. 

There are some minor differences between green tea and herbal tea, but there are many other differences between these two teas. 

The significant difference between Green Tea and Herbal Tea

Plants

The green teas are made up of a plant named Camellia Sinensis, or tea plant. These plants are grown in east Asia. At the same time, herbal tea is made from nearly any plant. Some examples of these herbal tea plants are mint, sage, chamomile, rose, lavender, and much more. Therefore, there is a bit of difference between green tea and herbal Tea as the plants used to make both are very different. 

Caffeine Content

As there are no herbs used in green tea, it is made up of pure plants. It contains a tiny amount of caffeine. Meanwhile, herbal Tea is made up of so many herbs and flowers. Hence it does not require caffeine in it. Green Tea is good when you want to be awake and fresh, but if you want to relax your mind, you need a cup of herbal tea. 

Can be consumed by whom?

As green tea contains a bit of caffeine, it is not advised to be consumed by old age people.  It is also suggested that pregnant women take a small amount of green tea during pregnancy. Meanwhile, herbal tea contains only herbs and spices. Therefore, it can be consumed by people of all age groups.

Flavour profile

Green Tea has a specific flavour profile. For example, you can find lemon-flavoured green Tea, orange flavour, and much more. At the same time, herbal Tea has only the flavour of herbs. 

Medicinal value

It has been seen that Herbal Tea has more medicinal value than green tea. Therefore, it is suggested that herbal tea is better to consume instead of green tea.
